One of the most popular no-trade token (NFT) games, Axie Infinity is slowly losing its player base on a weekly basis. Because the number of daily active users (DAU) started to fall below one million from its peak of 2.7 million. As of May 9, the game only had 926.8K SAD points. Fans speculate that this is due to a recent update where players can no longer receive SLP in adventure mode, significantly reducing the daily income of people who play regularly. It also didn’t help that some players stopped participating in the Axie Infinity Classic (aka V2) pending the official release of the Axie Origin update.
The number of Axie Infinity players has reached under one million
Axie Infinity co-founder Jeffrey “Jihoz” Zirlin shared that Axie Infinity’s DAU has dropped 14.27% this week. However, Gijoz reassured the Axie players that the fear of shrinking the player base is normal, and “We’ve been here before and we know what we have to do.”

Since last year, there has been a steady decline in the number of active players in the NFT game. Axie Infinity peaked in November 2021 with approximately 2.7 million customers. However, after reaching the peak, the numbers dropped rapidly, dropping to just 926,873 DAU on May 9, 2022.
It is reported that one of the reasons for the decrease in the number of players may be the market sale in December 2021. This resulted in a drop in the value of SLP and some players may have lost interest in the game. It also didn’t help that the Economic Balance Update rolled out in February 2022, where it removed SLP rewards after completing Adventure Mode and Daily Missions.
Later, the Ronin network was hacked in March 2022, which may have led to distrust among its players. Despite sanctions imposed by the US Treasury Department, it did not help the party, which made it difficult to track down and recover.
As of this writing, Axie Infinity’s DAU count shows no signs of improvement. Players hope the upcoming Axie Origin update will revive a dwindling player base and restore the healthy economy and community it once had.
