GTA V Graphics Comparison: PS4 vs PS5

Originally released in 2013, GTA V has also arrived today on next-gen platforms with a range of graphical improvements. Rockstar Games’ caper game still looks great on PC, and now – thanks to a massive graphics upgrade – it’s even better on PS5. We played the opening section on PS4 and PlayStation 5 to show you the differences between the two versions, and you can check out the video comparison below.

What will change in the new GTA V?

The next-gen version of GTA V has improved graphics, several visual modes including 4K (or 60 fps at a lower resolution), improved texture and visual horizon, HDR, ray tracing, faster uploadsa greater density of pedestrians and vegetation, improved reflections and lighting, and more, which should be enough for at least a while not to make you feel the absence of a GTA 6.

The graphics modes

As mentioned above, you can play GTA V with three different visual modes. In the video we showed you the loyalty mode. Here’s what changes with each of them:

  • Loyalty Mode: it has the highest visual quality and aims for 30 fps. In this mode, PS5 and Xbox Series X support native 4K resolution with ray tracing enabled, while Xbox Series S supports upscaled 4K resolution
  • Performance mode: has the most responsive gameplay experience and aims for 60 fps. In this mode, PS5 and Xbox Series X support upscaled 4K resolution, while Xbox Series S supports 1080p resolution
  • RT Performance Mode: a hybrid of Fidelity and Performance modes, with upscaled 4K resolution, ray tracing enabled and 60 fps target
