The sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild finally has an official release date and title. Nintendo just revealed The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom during the latest Direct. The game is coming to Nintendo Switch on May 12, 2023.

Nintendo also shared a new trailer for Tears of the Kingdom, which shows Link soaring in the skies of Hyrule, confirming the verticality of the new game and many methods of sailing through the air.

The sequel to Breath of the Wild was first announced at E3 2019 and will be one of the most anticipated games of next year. Originally released in 2017 on Nintendo Switch and Wii U, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been hugely successful, selling over 25.8 million copies to date.

Pikmin 4

Breath of The wild 2: title, release date and other announcements from Direct

However, the screenshot shown shows how the players’ view in Pikmin 4 will be low to the ground, near the height of the Pikimin. “The Nintendo Switch has allowed us to simplify the game controls, meaning you can focus on the essence of Pikmin’s gameplay,” said Miyamoto. “We call it Dandori in Japanese, or Pikmin strategic planning, deployment and command.”

The game will be the sequel to Pikmin 3 released in 2013 for the Wii U.

Octopath travel 2

Nintendo and Square Enix also announced Octopath Traveler 2, a sequel to the critically acclaimed RPG that pioneered retro HD-2D graphics style. Octopath Traveler 2 is coming to Nintendo Switch on February 24, 2023.

As seen in the trailer, the game once again follows eight travelers, from different walks of life, who decide to team up against a common enemy. This time, adventurers travel through the land of Solistia, a setting that’s more steampunk-inspired than the classic Middle Ages of the original game.

The other big announcements

In addition to a series of Resident Evil coming through the Cloud (including Village), a port of Sifu has also been announced, an excellent fighting game where instead of dying you age by inflicting less damage but learning more advanced techniques.

Fire Emblem Engage is the next game in Nintendo’s tactical RPG series. Coming to Switch on January 20, 2023, it will see the return of one of fan-favorite characters, Marth, along with a new hero with red and blue hair.

To celebrate Kirby’s 30th anniversary, the remastered version of Return to Dreamland was announced.

A first gameplay trailer dedicated to Bayonetta 3 has also arrived, promising plenty of action in October for fans of one of the sexiest witches in the game world.

To make everyone happy, absolutely everyone, Goldeneye will make its debut on Nintendo Switch and Xbox Game Pass, which is good news.
