The creator of The Walking Dead, Robert Kirkman, has applied to trademark The Walking Dead: Destinies. It will be a game, but in which genre and for which platforms is not yet clear.
Kirkman originally entered into a multi-year deal with Telltale Games beginning in 2011, but after Telltale’s shutdown and subsequent relaunch, the license for The Walking Dead brand reverted to Kirkman. So now the creator is free to do whatever he wants with the franchise.
Given the constant expansion of the Walking Dead universe, the development of the gaming segment seems quite logical. In addition to Telltale adventure games, the series has expanded into VR games and mobile titles.
