Highly anticipated sci-fi RPG Starfield has been given an R18+ rating by the Australian regulator due to the game’s violence and drug use. This is the first country to indicate the age limit of the project at this time.

Microsoft and Bethesda Game Studios are gearing up for a detailed reveal of Starfield gameplay in June at Starfield Direct. The show was announced earlier this month, along with a release date for the role-playing shooter itself.
Although the game’s September 6 release is still a long way off, the Australian Classification Board has already been able to rate Starfield. The regulator has assessed the R18+ Restricted (“Adults Only”) project. The entry notes that the reason for this was the possibility of using hard drugs and violence in the game. There are also references to foul language and adult themes, as well as some nudity.
Note that Fallout 3, Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim are designated as MA15+ (“For people over 15 years old”) by the Australian Classification Board.

Starfield launches on September 6 on PC and Xbox Series X/S. The game is immediately available in Game Pass. The upcoming Starfield Direct is scheduled for June 11.
