The Xbox Live brand is disappearing after nearly 21 years. Microsoft had already changed the name of its gaming network to Xbox Network two years ago. Even the Live Gold subscription, which was the last balance as of yesterday, is no longer usable. The company has changed that with its new Game Pass Core service.
Its price is still the same, in the Czech Republic it costs 149 CZK, but the system of distributed games is changing. In the 10 years since the Xbox 360, the company had made two games available to subscribers each month, and subscribers had permanent access to them as long as they paid for the subscription. But in recent years the quality of donated games has fallen sharply.
Game Pass Core therefore changes the entire system. Subscribers get instant access to more than 25 games, and Microsoft will update the catalog two to three times a year. Some games will disappear, others will be added. You can’t expect new releases like you can with Game Pass’s higher tariffs, but the first batch of 36 games is packed with very good three-star games, as well as many indies. Other benefits continue. Game Pass Core subscribers will have unlimited access to online multiplayer games, will be able to purchase games regularly at discounts of up to 50%, and Microsoft will occasionally offer limited-time access to full versions of games.
