ESL FACEIT Group (EFG) and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) today announced the 61 countries that will participate in the second season of eFIBA, FIBA’s official NBA 2K24 tournament. From October 3, the National Federations of seven regional areas will compete in the Pro-Am game mode to secure a place in the first eFIBA World Finals to be present at DreamHack Winter and a share of the 50,000 euro prize pool.
“After a successful opening season and eFIBA’s participation in the Olympic Esports Series, we are ready to make eFIBA Season 2 a milestone on the international stage,” he said Frank Leenders, General Manager of FIBA Media and Marketing Services. “eFIBA allows us to reach new basketball fans and build a global community of players and fans who share a passion for the game.”
The second season of eFIBA more than doubles the number of participating federations and expands the competition schedule. The event includes online regional qualifiers from October 3 to November 2 and regional finals from November 7 to 9 in Southeast Asia, Oceania, the Middle East, Africa, North America, South America and Europe. The winning country in each regional final and the top two Europeans will secure a place in the 2023 Season 2 World Finals, which will be held live at DreamHack Winter in Elmia, Jönköping, Sweden from November 25 to 26.
“The significant growth of participating National Federations and the incredible feedback we have received from players and the community demonstrate that eFIBA is on track to become a great offering for the NBA2K community,” said Roger Lodewick, President , Sports Games at ESL FACEIT Group. “Together with FIBA we have created a bold and innovative sports concept that serves the eSports community and connects with basketball fans. We are excited to start season two.”
