Developer David Szymanski’s retro shooter Dusk, released in 2018, is about to get a little less retro. As part of the Realms Deep 2023 presentation, they presented a teaser trailer for the remaster: Dusk HD.

Since last summer it has been known that Dusk will receive a light rejuvenation treatment. At the time, the intention was to only update the weapon and enemy models, but the project has since grown in size.

Dusk HD is now being billed as a complete visual overhaul of Dusk: every item, enemy, weapon, model and texture has been redesigned: “Any. For you. Free. Don’t thank me”.

The remaster will be distributed for free through the Steam Workshop – no one will force an update. Enhancements are completely optional: they are not integrated into the game until the user installs them.

The PC Gamer Portal notes that if reception is sufficiently positive, updated textures and models could still be integrated into the game as an option (also for console versions).

Dusk HD is expected to release on the fifth anniversary of the original Dusk, which is December 10th (or thereabouts). They promise to show a full gameplay trailer with Halloween comparison footage at the end of October.

Along with Dusk HD, a modding toolkit will also be released in December, allowing players to use both new and old assets and upload their creations to the Steam Workshop.
