The new action RPG from the creators of The Surge, Atlas Fallen, gained a gameplay video with the developers explaining the different game mechanics. The video presents combat, abilities, customization, the game world and more.
Jan Klose, creative director of Atlas Fallen, reinforces a recurring take on Deck13 about the game: learnings from The Surge 2 apply to the new action-RPG, even going in a “completely different direction.” “We want to keep the pace fast, we want to keep the action up, we want to improve it,” he said.
Klose makes it clear that Atlas Fallen is all about movement speed, with a nimble vertical exploration of the game’s vast, gritty world. From what has been revealed so far, the movement of the title’s characters resembles what Forspoken offers, which was one of the few factors praised in Square Enix’s game.
“Navigate the sands of a timeless land filled with ancient dangers, mysteries, and fragments of the past. Hunt down legendary monsters using powerful mutated weapons and devastating arena-bending abilities in spectacular super-powered combat.”
Atlas Fallen arrives in May for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series
The speed of the game takes place in the arenas, an element present in almost all the territories of the world of Atlas Fallen. As the video shows, the enemies are very agile and the sand allows the character to slide and move even faster.
The world of Atlas Fallen is not only made of sand, but also has forests, large underground areas with cities, mountains, and even snowy regions. The sand also influences the enemies, which are made of this element, but with bone structures that look like stone.
The creative director highlights that each player can live a unique experience with the different customizations, either visually speaking, or even in the different skills available, increasing the possibilities of movements and attacks.
Atlas Fallen is being published by focus entertainmentpublisher with recently released expressive titles like A Plague Tale: Requiem and Atomic Heart, plus Evil West.
