Created and developed by a single person, Stardew Valley gets its first major update since patch 1.5 was released in 2020. The information was confirmed on Twitter by the game’s creator, Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone, who said that he was already working on the release of the 1.6 update.
As he explained last Sunday (16), the update should focus on bringing modifications that will facilitate the work of modders. “But there will also be new content for the game, although it will be much less than in 1.5”promised Barone, who did not go into further detail about what he is preparing.
The creator of Stardew Valley also announced that with the decision to bring a new update to the game, will temporarily halt development of Haunted Chocolatier. As soon as the farm care game gets the update, he promises to rededicate himself to his new project which is to allow players to run a chocolate shop.
The update does not yet have a release date.
Until now, Barone did not reveal when he intends to launch the new update of his famous game, but guaranteed on Twitter that it will bring some unpublished dialogues. In patch 1.5, Stardew Valley received quality-of-life improvements, a new farm, and several new explorable areas; since then it has only gotten a handful of revisions, the most recent of which dates back to early 2022.
Since its release, the game was responsible for the development of a very rich community of mods. These range from quality of life features like adding NPC locations on the map to more ambitious projects that change the game’s graphics, add items like tractors, and improve its combat system.
Known for working at his own pace, Barone announced Haunted Chocolatier in October 2021, but never got around to revealing what the game’s release date would be. Since his philosophy is that the game will hit stores “when it’s ready,” it behooves fans to wait patiently to find out what the successor to Stardew Valley will bring.
