Cyberpunk 2077 and Cyberpunk Edgerunners
Cyberpunk 2077 crashed on release, but CD Projekt has since fixed its bugs. When version 1.5 became available in February of this year, the player count reached an all-time high for this CD Projekt title. utilities again reaches an unexpected number of players per day: Over a million. However, this spike is not related to in-game updates.
Why so many players have returned to play Cyberpunk 2077
Ten days ago, Cyberpunk 2077 had just over 60,000 daily players, peaking at 86,000 at best. Now the numbers have been multiplied by fifteen. The reason has nothing to do with the video game, at least not directly. The most compelling reason is: the premiere of Cyberpunk Edgerunners, on Sept 13. The story of the anime set in Night City shares nothing with the video game, beyond the universe. Still, those who have become addicted to Cyberpunk Edgerunners have decided to give Cyberpunk 2077 a try, whether or not for the first time.
CD Project announced via Twitter this spike in game stats. Given the game’s reception at launch, with all the bugs it had, there was nothing to think that it would ever reach so many people per day. Even with the announcement of new expansions, they didn’t reach as many people as they did with the release of Cyberpunk Edgerunners.
A million players, for how long?
The question now is: How long do these numbers last?. Whether it’s your first time playing it or you dropped it right after launch, before 1.5, players are in for a pleasant surprise to find that it’s light years away from the catastrophic December 2020 release. cannot be guaranteed that this million players will be sustained after a while.
Certainly, a large percentage of those players are the ones who are now giving him another chance. After watching the anime, it’s interesting to go back to the source material to look for references in the scenarios, weapons and accessorieslike the characteristic jacket of the main character of the anime.
