Sony plans to release the PlayStation 6 starting in 2028. The launch window for the new generation of consoles was presented by the company in response to the UK competition authority regarding the merger between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard, which is still being analyzed by the necessary bodies.
The deadline stipulated by Sony for the arrival of the PlayStation 6 is within what has been practiced by the company in the latest console launches.
In the document, Sony questions Call of Duty’s offer for PlayStation only until 2027. This would be the term in which Microsoft would have stipulated for the franchise to be available on competing consoles. The Japanese company ensures that the next generation of consoles would suffer a great impact when reaching users without one of the most successful series in the industry.
“Microsoft has offered to continue making Activision games available on PlayStation only until 2027. Similarly, in public comments on October 26, Microsoft said it plans to offer Call of Duty on PlayStation only as long as it makes sense. A period until 2027 : or any other that Microsoft determines is inappropriate. By the time SIE released the next generation of its console, it would have lost access to Call of Duty.”
The deadline is within the window of the last few generations.
Although Sony’s response isn’t an official date for the PlayStation 6 to hit the market, this is the first time fans of the console have been given a deadline for the new generation to be available. Therefore, during the next six years it is very unlikely that any launch related to a new generation will happen from the Japanese company.

That would mean a difference of eight years between the launch of one generation and another, just one more than seen in recent times.
