The Resident Evil 4 remake is almost certain to be a huge hit, but Capcom shouldn’t suffer the same fate with Exoprimal, its multiplayer dinosaur. The open beta is currently underway and feedback from players has not been positive, with the biggest complaint being the game’s PvP mode.

The Exoprimal open beta started yesterday (16) and will run until next Monday (20) on all platforms the game will be released on: both PlayStation and Xbox generations, as well as PC. This trial period already offers pairing between platforms (crossplay).

On Steam, where it’s easier to see player feedback, Exoprimal doesn’t work very well. With over 600 reviews, the Capcom game has an approval rating of 49%. According to SteamDB, the open beta has peaked at 9,510 players so far, dropping below 4,000 at the moment.

Unlike PvP, Exoprimal’s PvE mode is praised

As stated above, PvP is among the top complaints. Phrases like “keep PvE separate from PvP”, “the PvP part at the end kills the game, it’s no fun, just keep PvE and PvP separate”, “I’ve seen 5 guys leave when PvP starts” and “I was playing PvE and I ended up in PvP against people 10 times or more above my level.Where’s my PvE are some of the many complaints about player vs player.

It’s also not hard to find complaints that just say the game is just “boring” and “boring”. There are those who say it’s not worth the price charged, and also those who say Capcom didn’t learn from the mistakes of Resident Evil 3’s online modes and Village, Resistance, and Re:Verse, respectively, which weren’t. good at all

Interestingly, among the various reviews, I didn’t find any complaints (at least in Portuguese and English) about performance issues, something more and more common, especially in the PC versions. Remembering that Exoprimal was made with the RE Engine, a graphics engine that has been successful since it debuted in RE7.
