Originally released in 2002, the first installment in the series. fragmented cell promise to have a tone of the story quite different from the remake that Ubisoft is preparing. A screenwriter’s job released by the company indicates that it aims to update the narrative of the franchise to achieve a “modern audience”.
So far it is not clear what this means, but the expectation is that the game will bring themes of politics and global espionage more adapted to today’s world. The remake had its production confirmed by Ubisoft in December 2021 and, since then, it has not released more details about what it is preparing.
The remake of Splinter Cell will be made with the Snowdrop engineassociated with games as disparate as Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 Y Battle of the Kingdom of Mario and Rabbids. Ubisoft promises the game will deliver “next-gen visuals and gameplay, and the dynamic lighting and shadows the series is known for”.
Splinter Cell has been almost 10 years without new games
Although Splinter Cell remains a beloved series for those who followed its releases, almost 10 years have passed without receiving an official release. His most recent chapter is Splinter Cell: Blacklist, game released in August 2013 that brought more action-focused gameplay systems and replaced famed voice actor Michael Ironside with Eric Johnson in the role of protagonist Sam Fisher.
Since then, Fisher has reappeared in other Ubisoft games such as Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands. (again with the voice of Ironside), but he did not get to star in a new solo adventure.
